New Greek Tourism Website to launch in February 2014

Private marketing company for Greek tourism Marketing Greece has announced it is soft-launching its consumer website Discover Greece this week. The Discover Greece portal is due to beunveiled in February in five languages and will feature extensive content produced exclusively for the website, including 120,000 words of text in each language, 2,000 photographs and 60 high-quality videos.
The new portal aims to map the entire country’s tourism portfolio, presenting it by “products,” traveler type and holiday experience as well as giving detailed information on more than 110 locations across the country. According to an announcement, the new portal has been conceived and modeled on the best practices of the most high-profile international travel sites and will feature a state-of-the-art, easy-to-use booking functionality.
“The Discover Greece portal will enhance Greece’s access to online distribution channels through compelling and engaging digital content and a powerful price comparison functionality,” the general manager of Marketing Greece, Iossif Parsalis, said.
In a first for Greece, a tourism portal sees to unite hotels, regional authorities and other key players in the tourism industry, ensuring that Greek destinations and experiences are visible and highly competitive in the online marketplace.
All are invited to join and share their experiences in Greece! The Discover Greece portal is invitingeveryone to join in by sharing experiences, memories and photos from their Greek holidays.
Supported by a social media campaign under the theme #WeDiscoverGreece, the campaign aims to bring together evocative stories and images of Greece from anyone who has visited the country. It could be a simple holiday memory or a photo that captures the very essence of Greece: an island setting, the perfect lazy summer meal, the unmistakable blue of the Aegean or just a smile that says you’ll be back for more.

As an additional incentive, a lucky couple will each week have the chance to win an amazing trip to Greece at luxury hotels all over the country, from Athens and Thessaloniki to the Peloponnese and the world-famous Greek islands, with air travel being offered by Aegean Airlines.
